About Midland Gallery
Mike and Karen Crume purchased the Midland Gallery when it was a small custom frame/print shop. As long time lovers of good art, they developed a plan to expand into a “real” gallery. The first step was to make sure each piece of art that left the frame shop was framed to absolute perfection. Mike says that was achieved by bringing in Heap Taing as the shop manager. “Heap and I have the same philosophy,” Mike says, “Midland Gallery will offer the very best picture framing available…Anywhere.”
That accomplished, the gallery moved to its present location at about twice its former size and a concentrated search began for new artists. “We wanted to offer the best QUALITY, the best SELECTION, all at competitive PRICING.” Mike says that philosophy earned the Gallery the prestigious National Decor Award of Excellence in Atlanta in 1993, and THE BEST OF MIDLAND AWARD for 10 years. But he continues, “We will always strive to offer a BETTER quality, and a BETTER selection, still at a competitive PRICE.”
Walking through the doors of Midland Gallery, you can literally view a world of art. In the entry, the beautiful figures of Giuseppi Armani (Italian sculpture d’art) are displayed. And nearby, from the south of France, the “glass objects d’art” of Jean-Claude Novaro will dazzle your eyes. Novaro’s creations are exhibited world wide in very prestigious, private collections and museums. Also, be sure to take a look at the hand made velvet-lined trinket boxes made from picture frame molding to coordinate with the finest decors.
The 6000 square foot gallery has a showroom of more than 4500 feet, including the largest selection of ready-made frames in the area. Let owner Mike Crume take you for a stroll: from Russia, Victor Shvaiko depicts beautiful European street scenes, from Korea, Sam Park brings Mediterranean villas to life, or he can take you back to San Diego when you visited the island resort of La Jolla.
Ming Feng, originally from China, paints our own East Coast in colors so fabulous you will want to stay forever in one of his seaside garden cottages.
A must to see is works from new artist, Leonard Wren. Leonard is from Tulsa, Oklahoma who depicts the wonderful small villages and architectural landscapes of rural France.
Too cosmopolitan? How about a country landscape by Salvador Caballero from Barcelona, Spain. Or, maybe you would prefer the small villages of “Barbera” from Valencia.
Back home, CA (Cowboy Artist of America) artist Wayne Baize brings Western art alive in a West Texas setting only those who have witnessed will believe. And Curtis Dykes portrays his Western Landscapes of the Hill Country at its best.
